About Lucy Cooke
Lucy Hancock was the daughter of Reverend John Hancock and Elizabeth (Clarke) Hancock. Wife of Reverend Nicholas Bowes.
Marriages:
1. Rev. Nicholas Bowes of Bedford, who d. 1755.
2. COOK, Samuel, Rev., of Cambridge, and Mrs. Lucy Bowes, Nov. 28, 1762. [Nov. 25, M.R.] (Bedford VRs)
Arlington deaths: COOKE, Lucy, w. [Rev. Samuel], Sept. 21, 1768, a. 56. P.R. [Sept. 12, a. 38, G.R.]
Lemuel Shattuck's History of Concord says: Mr. Bowes married Lucy, the sister of the Rev. Jonas Clark of Lexington, and aunt of Governor Hancock, and had William, Lucy, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Dorcas, Thomas, and Mary. One of whom married the Rev. Samuel Cook of West Cambridge.
But the Lexington vital records say that Nicholas and Lucy's daughter Lucy married Jonas Clark in 1757.
BOWES, Lucy, and Rev. Mr. Jonas Clark, Sept. 21, 1757. She was d. Rev. Nicholas Bowes and g.d. Rev. John Hancock.
Mrs. Lucy Clark, w. of Jonas, d. in Lexington in 1789, age. 53. Also, there is no Mrs. Nicholas Bowes buried in Bedford. So, I would imagine that the Rev. Bowes' widow was the person who married the Rev. Samuel Cooke.
