MRS. L. W. DREXEL BURIED Many Members of Society Attend Services in Cathedral

Many members of Philadelphia society attended the solemn requiem mass which was celebrated at the Cathedral yesterday for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Lucy Wharton Drexel, the wife of the late Joseph Drexel, who died suddenly at her late residence, 1807 Pine street, on last Thursday, Archbishop Pendergast and a number of clergy of the diocese occupied places in the sanctuary.

Mass was celebrated by Rev. Thomas J. McCluskey, S. J., president of Fordham University, who thirty years ago received Mrs. Drexel into the Catholic Church. At the conclusion of the mass the Archbishop gave the absolution of the body.

Mrs. Harry Lehr was the only one of Mrs. Drexel's four daughters who was not present at the obsequies. She is now at Saint Moritz, in Switzerland. Mother Katherine Drexel, a niece of Mrs. Drexel, was present, wearing the habit of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, a religious order which she founded for the evanageliaztion of the Indian and colored races.

Mrs Drexel's daughters present at the funeral were Mrs. Charles Bingham Penrose, 1720 Spruce street; Mrs. Eric B. Dahlgren, who is married to son of the late Admiral Dahlgren, U. S. N., and Mrs. Duncan Emmet, both of New York. Mrs. Emmet is married to a son of Dr. Thomas Addis Emmet, a physician in New York. Interment was made in Woodlands Cemetery, where the body was placed in the beautiful white marble mausoleum in which the body of the late Anthony J. Drexel's body now reposes.
