their son John. Thus they were 4th cousins.

Some have her born in Montague, Franklin County, Massachusetts. But it seems much more likely that she is a Phelps from Suffield. It is 51 miles from Montague to Suffield, so it is not immediately clear (but possible) how two that lived so far apart would find each other, maybe at a church camp or through family connections.
