Lucy Stapp was apparently the last child of Colbay Stapp and Mary Margaret Conner Miller, and her wedding took place at the home of her much older brother John J. Stapp in Speeds Mill, Pickens County. Her name in the marraige records on ancestry.com and in the newspapers of the time was Lucy Miller, Miller being her mother's maiden name. After the death of her seccond husband, she apparently moved to Gordo but maintained a connection with Knoxville, which was her official residence for the four consecutive election years between 1946 and 1952. She probably died in Gordo, as this is where she was buried rather than in the same cemetery with her second husband.
