Some pedigrees list her name as Lucy MALLERSON. But MALLERSON was actually the surname of her first husband (she was a widow when she married Abel SHOLES).
She married first, Elisha MALLERSON, 2nd, Abel SHOLES, and 3rd, Samuel NEWTON. children of first marriage (MALLERSON): Thomas, Lucy, Elisha, Ezra, Roselle. children of second marriage (SHOLES): Lydia, Gabrey, Prudence, Stanton, George, Abial, Abial. children of third marriage (NEWTON): Sabrina.
The will of Lucy Newton of Groton, Stonington district, Cn. dated August 3, 1818, mentions dau. Sabrina Fitch, dau. Lydia Sholes, graddau. Nancy Pelton, granddau. Eunice Sholes and Lucy Hinkley. Appointed her friend Ebenezer Morgan as executor. Presented for probate on Nov. 21, 1818 and recorded January 2, 1819.
The Belden Manuscript mentions two of Lucy's children by her first marriage - Ezra and Thomas, who escaped from Ft. Griswold after the massacre started.
