CRUSHED BY A ROCK.
An Italian Miner, While Taking Out Timber in the Hecla Shaft, Fatally Injured.

Calumet, Mich, Nov. 3. - While an Italian miner, L. Valsovaus, was taking timber out of skip No. 2, In the Hecla shaft, on the 16th level, a rock fell, crushing his hip and causing internal injuries which may prove fatal.

Last Monday Louis Valsovanneau was unloading the skip in No. 3 Shaft of the Hecla mine, a piece of rock that had been dislodged at the 10th level, fell on him striking him on the neck and hip. It crushed the hip and pelvis causing his death on Wednesday.
