Born in Tondo, Manila, on March 28, 1903; son of Tirso Lopez and Maria Obieta; graduated as B.C.S. with high honors from the Ateneo de Manila in 1919; was appointed assistant clerk, Bank of the Philippine Islands, 1919; promoted to assistant manager, foreign department, same bank, 1923; made a tour around the world, 1930; became acting manager, 1933, and manager, foreign department, same bank, since 1935. He is married to the former Miss Paz Araneta Zaragoza, of Quiapo, Manila, by whom he has one daughter, Maria.
