Luis Muñoz Marín, 1er Gobernador de Puerto Rico

José Luis Alberto Muñoz Marín (February 18, 1898 – April 30, 1980) was the first elected governor of Puerto Rico, journalist, politician, and statesman, regarded as the "Father of Modern Puerto Rico" and the "Architect of the Commonwealth."

In 1948 he was the first democratically elected Governor of Puerto Rico, spearheading an administration that engineered profound economic, political and social reforms; accomplishments that were internationally lauded by many politicians, statesmen, political scientists and economists of the period. Marin was instrumental in the destruction of the Nationalist party and its efforts to gain independence.

Luis Muñoz Marín (San Juan, 18 de febrero de 1898 - 30 de abril de 1980), fue un escritor, periodista, senador y primer Gobernador de Puerto Rico, electo democráticamente. Trabajó junto al gobierno de los Estados Unidos para conseguir una Constitución para Puerto Rico que crearía un ambiente favorable para que la isla pudiera alcanzar progreso tanto económico como político. Muñoz ejerció el cargo de gobernador por 16 años y sus logros lo hicieron merecedor de la Medalla de la Libertad y el título: "Padre del Puerto Rico Moderno".
