Luke and family had settled in New Haven, CT, by 1638 where he swore the oath of fidelity 1 July 1644. He served on the jury of Connecticut Court in 1646 and 1648. They moved to Wethersfield, CT, where he was a Selectman in 1653 and 1656. He signed an intent to settle in Hadley, MA, on 18 April 1659 but died before they migrated. In his will dated 17 October 1659 gave his wife full power to dispose of the estate, but if she married again was to have only her third. The value of his estate was 452 pounds and included 8 hives of bees and 50 pounds of hops as well as land.
Elizabeth and children moved to Springfield, MA, and on the same day as her daughter Hannah married Chilaeb SMITH, Elizabeth married William Warriner, a well-to-do widower with three children. He died intestate after they had been married for 15 years. She and WilliamÂ’s children agreed that she would have use of one third of his estate during her widowhood plus fifteen pounds. Two years later she married Joseph Baldwin of Hadley, MA.
