Biography
Luke was born in 1790 in North Carolina. He served as a Legislator there prior to moving to Pike County, Alabama. There is an 1830 census for a Luke R Simmons in Columbus, North Carolina.[1]

While in Pike County, he served as an Alabama State Legislator.

Luke married Priscilla Soles on 24 Jan 1811, according to Priscilla's grave.

He is the most likely candidate to be the father of Daniel Simmons who was born in Pike County in 1832. In 1848, a guardian, Peter Coleman, was appointed for Daniel and his sister, Dorcas,[2] which suggests that their father had passed shortly before. Luke passed away in 1844.

Furthermore, the 1840 census shows that Luke had a son in the 8-10 year old range, and they were living in Pike County.[3]

Luke passed away in 1844 in Pike County. Burial was in the Beulah Cemetery, Troy, Pike County, Alabama.[4]
