Statesboro - Mrs. E. A. Smith, 81, died early Sunday at the Bulloch County Hospital after a long illness. A native of Bulloch County, she had lived in Statesboro most of her life. She was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Mary Ruth L. Dodd of Statesboro; two brothers, Stanley E. Waters of Sylvania and P. S. Waters of cary, N.C.; her sister, Mrs. Gladys W. Taylor of Savannah; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Statesboro First Baptist Church, with burial in the Macedonia Church Cemetery.

Smith-Tillman Mortuary of Statesboro is in charge.
