Luna Canetti (MO-1)

           My Maternal Great-Grandmother, Luna Canetti, was born in Edirne' Turkey in 1866 to Mordechai/ Marco Canetti & Bulisu. She was a Teacher of Elementary Education, and at one point also taught for the Alliance Israelite Universelles. Along with her husband, Nisim Efraim Behar, she immigrated from the family's home in Sliven, Bulgaria to Ottoman Jerusalem. At some point, before 1900, Luna sadly contracted an Opthalmic Epidemic which left her blind. She returned to Edirne to seek medical intervention and in hopes of reversing her blindness, but nothing could be done. Mordechai Canetti, her father, owned a Coffee Business in Edirne', and my late Nono, Michel Behar (her Son), recalls helping-out in his Grandfather's Coffee Shop by rolling paper-cones for the Beans.  While unconfirmed, Luna is thought to have been buried in Alexandria, Egypt where her Son, Michel was an Agronomist.
