Lupe Lara, 88, of Fort Dodge, left us September 3, 2009 at Trinity Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8th in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where there will be a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil at 7:00 p.m.
Survivors include her sons, Jessie (Linda), Gomez (Joan), Tim (Jane), Paul, Bob (Marcy), all of Fort Dodge; Manuel (Kathy) of Cedar Rapids, Julian (Ammie) of Otho; daughters, Linda (Floyd) Hood of Otho, Adella (Jerry) Cleveland of Marshfield, WI, Becky (Ron) Bygness of Fort Dodge; son-in-law Lonnie Wildt (Lupe) of Fort Dodge; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; sisters, Esperanza (Sam) Ayala and Shirley Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gomecindo and Julia (Raso) Granados; husband Timo; daughter, Lupe (Pita) Wildt; grandchildren, Daniel, Riley, Syrus; brothers, Joe Grandors and Tony Porrez.
Lupe Granados was born March 6, 1921 in Penjamo, Mexico and moved to Chicago at the age of 2. Later she moved with her family to Fort Dodge. On February 7, 1940 she was united in marriage to Timo Torres Lara and they established their home in Fort Dodge. Besides being a homemaker raising her family, Lupe worked at Tony's Restaurant until her retirement.
