Mrs. George Strain united with the church at age 16 and during the years to follow, lived an earnest christian life. She had lived in Lamar about 6 years prior to her death. She suffered an affliction for several years prior to being admitted to the hospital in La Junta for treatment only a few days before she died. The body was taken to Lamar where many friends attended the funeral at the family residence conducted by the Rev. T. F. Kelly--pastor of the Baptist church. At the time of her death, seven of her nine children were still living. At the time of George's death there were six sons and 1 daughter living along with 34 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
