About Lydia Duke
She was not married to Col. Henry Duke Sr. Esq . Lydia Hansford was married to John Taylor Duke Jr. and they had my 5th great grandfather Robert Duke who married Ann Rhew. I have checked and re-checked, to make sure. So please check this out on your end... Sincerely Ms. Darla S. Hudson. http://edlers.org/pers/AP/15duke.pdf?fbclid=IwAR00W9zhxx_zOV_CvNCfp... https://archive.org/stream/henrydukecouncil00duke/henrydukecouncil0... https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/130587495/henry-duke?fbclid=IwA... Lydia Hansford, the daughter of Capt. Charles Hansford and Elizabeth Folliott (Moody) (Hansford), married Henry Duke. Records, research, and her father’s will state that she married a Colonel Henry Duke in Virginia and had a sister who married Samuel Hill.
Henry Duke really did have two sons named John. The sons often signed the same documents when settling family affairs. The oldest, Major John Duke, is believed to be a son by Henry's unknown first wife. The second son John was always known as John Taylor Duke and was named for the father of his mother Elizabeth Taylor.
