Mr. and Mrs. George W. Levens

Having married fifty-seven years ago, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Levens, 1013 Lyon street, are celebrating the event today and will be honored at a family dinner this eveing in their home. Mr. Raymond Bloom of this city, a grandson, and his family will be present at the dinner besieds the immediate family.

The marriage of the couple took place in marion county and thier entire wedded life was spent her. They were the parents of six children, five of whom are living, William Ray Levens, at home; Mrs. William V. Skopel, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Mrs. Ches Hammon, Little Rock, Ark., and Misses Minnie and Alice Levens, who reside with their paerents. One son James, has passed away.

Although he is 85 years of age Mr. Levens is very active and goes to his work daily at the Hannibal Ice and Cold Storage Company where he has been employed for 38 years. Mrs. Levens is also 85 and takes an interest in news of the day. They are members of First Christian church.

MRS. LEVENS, 88, PASSES AWAY

Seriously Ill for Three Weeks

Mrs. Lydia Ann Levens, 101 Lyon street, passed away at her home this morning at 9:24 o'clock. She had been in ill health four years and had been seriously ill three weeks.

She was the wife of George W. Levens and the couple married 60 years ago by a Christian minister in Palmyra, quietly observed the event September 18. Aged 88 years, Mrs. Levens was born August 11, 1855 in Marion county where she was a lifelong resident. Her parents were Joseph and Elizabeth Hatten Campbell.

Surviving are her husband; one son, Ray Levens of this city; four daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Skopil of Hannibal, Mrs. Chester Hammons of Little Rock, Ark., who was at her mother's bedside when she passed away; Miss Alice Levens and Mrs. Ray Marshall of Hannibal; five grandchildren. five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Barney Campbell of Center and Robert Campbell of Marion courty. Mrs. Levens was the only charter member of the Mt. Zion Christian church.

Funeral service will be held at the Schwartz funeral home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Dr. C. J. Armstrong, pastor First Christian church, will be in charge and burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
