Lysander J McFarland was born in Coitsville, Ohio about 1835 (census data) and in 1850 was living with his brother John, sister Sarah and mother Melissa. They were next to his sister Mary Brackenridge and family. He appears to be helping with John's small home farm. Nearby in Coitsville, lived Laura Bissell, daughter of Porter and Margaret. They were married there about 1859. By 1860 he and Laura had moved to Tafton, Grant co, Wisconsin where he was a harness maker. They had one daughter, Blanche in 1863, born in Illinois. It has been reported that Lysander died in Andersonville prison during the civil war (unknown reference). In 1870, Laura is living in Viola, Mercer co, Illinois next to (a cousin?) Abby M Hogg and Abby's two daughters. In 1880 she and Blanche are near to James (b 1806) and Mary Hogg , still in Viola. In 1900, daughter Blanche, age 38, is unmarried and boarding in Fordyce, Dallas co, Arkansas.
