Whereas there is a tr of land formerly belonging to WARWICK CAMMOCK whereof 600 a. of the tr having formerly been conveyd over unto AMMAREE {Amory} BUTLER and from him conveyd unto WILLIAM UNDERWOOD Senr as marrying the sister of the said AMMAREE BUTLER, and from the said WILLIAM UNDERWOOD conveyd in the exchange of the thirds of lands belonging unto ELIZABETH COUMBS, with her consent, unto WILLIAM UNDERWOOD Junr, JOHN COUMBS & WILLIAM COUMBS, now the said WILLIAM UNDERWOOD Junr for a valuable consideration sold unto WILLIAM TOMAS of the parish of Washington, Westmoreland Co, 200 a. being his right in the 600 a.

William Underwood was born about 1648/49 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia Colony. He was included as a headright of his father, William Underwood, in a patent recorded 22 May 1650:

1650 - Same, [William Underwood], 600 acs. in Rappa. Riv. on N. side, beg. at a poynt nigh the mouth of Indian Cr., running N. E. by N. & above land of Mr. James Williamson. Trans. of 12 pers: Wm. Moseley, Wm. Underwood 4 tymes, Mary his wife, Wm. Underwood his son, Henry Succor & ux, George Bryer, Joseph Robins, Elizabeth Penn (or Prenn) 22 May 1650, p. 213.[1]
On 22 July 1663 a document was recorded:

William Underwood son and heir of William Underwood Senr. late of Rappahannock County in Virginia in this part of America appoint my uncle William Moseley as guardian and attorney for me to care for the estate bequeathed by my father's will. He to send to my uncle Edward Burton Gent. of Kedeminster in county of Worcestor to whom I have entrusted my education the income out of my estates in Virginia. I the said William Underwood am of the age of fourteen and one half years." 20 July 1663, signed by William Underwood; witnessed by Edward Giggs, Will Jenkins.[2]
1662 -William Underwood, sonn & heire of Coll. Wm. Underwood, 2561 1/2 acs. Rappa. Co., 11 Mar. 1662, p. 103 (598). ... 2784 granted Coll. Underood 10 Sept. 1658, whereof 238 sold to Samuell Nicholls & 15 1/2 acs. now adjoined. Due said William as sonn & heire of the abovesaid.[1]

William Underwood married Mary (Butler) Underwood before December 1672 in (Old) Rappahannock County, Virginia Colony. On 24 December 1672 William, "with Mary his wife, of Rappahannock county stated that whereas Mr. John Catlett surveyed for Samuel Nicholls a tract of 688 acres of land ...." [2]

William Underwood, Sr., of Sittenbourne Parish, Richmond County, wrote his will on 19 July 1717. Inventory of the estate was entered on the same day the will was probated, 7 August 1717.[3]
