About Maartje Offers
Maartje Offers was a Dutch classical singer. She was the first Dutch singer to perform at the Scala of Milan. During the Second World War she refused to become a member of the Kultuurkamer. This meant the end of her singing career. In 1944 she died of diabetes because of the lack of medication and the poor nutritional status.
