Madeleine de Roybon d'Allonne, Fille du Roi

Madeleine de Roybon, was among more than 800 fille du roi shipped by Louis XIV as brides for the lonely men of New France. She was one of the few young women who didn't marry in the colony, presumably because she was romantically involved with the romantic explorer Rene-Robert Cavelier. He was murdered before they could marry.
