Maggie A Adkisson

Mrs. W. J. Adkisson died at her home, Wednesday, February 24th, 1909, after an illness of two weeks. She had been in feeble health for several years.

The funeral services were held at the home Friday morning, Rev. W. E. Palmer conducting. The remains were laid to rest in the Farnam cemetery. She leaves a husband, two sons and two daughters, besides many friends to mourn her loss.

The death of Mrs. Adkisson is a very sad one and the heartfelt sympathy of all is extended to her husband and children. The deceased was aged forty-six years, four months and five days. She was a loving wife and affectionate mother and a friend to all who knew her. Her last words were "Christ is precious to my soul."

Maggie A. Hensley was born in Iowa, October 19, 1862. Came to Butler county, Nebraska, in 1887 and was united in marriage to W. J. Adkisson December 1, 1879. To this union six children were born, two of whom have preceeded their mother. With her husband she came to Frontier county in April, 1880, and has resided here ever since. She was a true and beloved wife and mother and will be missed by all.

They have laid her in the grave

 And we are left to moan.

The flowers will o'er her wave,

 We must finish our journey alone.

Why do we mourn and weep

 For the mother gone on before?

She will awaken from her sleep

 On that happy, peaceful shore.

When the days seem dark and drear

 And flowers are not in bloom,

We will wish that she were here

 To drive away the gloom.

We will never see her more

 Nor will we run to greet her,

To greet her at the door.
