Major Arthur Thomas MacMorrough Kavanagh, The MacMorrough was born on 12 January 1888. He was the son of Rt. Hon. Walter MacMorrough Kavanagh, The MacMorrough and Helen Louisa Howard. He married Minna Alice Buxton, daughter of Samuel Gurney Buxton and Mary Anne Birkbeck, on 17 November 1914. He died on 9 December 1953 at age 65.1

He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.

He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.

He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 7th Queen's Own Hussars.

He was decorated with the award of Military Cross (M.C.).

He lived at Borris, County Carlow, Ireland.

He lived at Ballyragget, County Kilkenny, Ireland.

Lineage–DERMOT MACMORROUGH, King of Leinster, whose lineage is traced to remote times; died 1170, and was f, with a dau, Princess Eva, of DONELL CAOMHANAGH, or Donel the Handsome, King of Leinster, who was the immediate ancestor of this powerful Irish sept. His descendants were elected Kings of Leinster down to the reign of HENRY VIII., and the Ch was acknowledged as "THE MACMORROUGH" by the English. Donell was slain 1175 and was s by His son,

The elder son, CAHIR MAC ART BOY KAVANAGH, of Borris, Lord of Ballyanne, Co Wexford, Captain of his nation, was cr by patent, dated 8 Feb, 1 and 2 Mary I., Baron of Ballyanne for life. He lived 1500-1554 and married Alicia, daughter of Gerald, Earl of Kildare, and left issue, five sons and one daughter

The 4th son, BRIAN MAC CAHIR KAVANAGH, of Borris and Poulmonty. He was b. ca. 1526, and was in rebellion 1572. He married Elinor, daughter of Hugh Byrne, of Rathangan, Co Wicklow, and had issue,

He married 2nd, Joan, daughter of Nicholas Morres, of Templemore, Co Tipperary, by whom he had an only daughter He died 19 June, 1636, and was s by his eldest son,

BRIAN KAVANAGH, of Borris; born 1595; died 1662; married 1st, Elinor, daughter of Sir Thomas Colclough, Knt., of Tintern Abbey, by whom he had issue, two daughters.
