"In memory of Major Ebenezer Whiting of Norwich in Connecticut who died Sep. 6 AD 1794 in he 59th year of his age."

"There's something in us prompts the eternal sigh For which we bear to live or dare to die Some earthly things Nill clog the heav'nly breath For life's an ill whose only cure is death The faithful friend the parent wife & kind The upright man true joys above must find ." _______________________________________

Major Ebenezer Whiting was born in Hartford, 18 May 1735, son of Charles and Elizabeth (Bradford) Whiting.

He was a great-great grandson of Governor William Bradford of The Mayflower, as well as John Alden and his wife Priscilla Mullins (both Mayflower passengers in their own right, having come alone before their marriage).

Ebenezer married Ann, daughter of Col. Eleazer Fitch, who survived him. _______________________________________* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Jun 20 2021, 5:04:24 UTC
