About Maj. George Montagu Stopford
He was present at the battles of Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman and Sebastapol, where he served as Aide-de-Camp to General Sir John Burgoyne (I700). Decorated with the Knight Order of the Medjidie (instituted in 1852 - Turkey) - for officers who fought in the Crimean War.
