William Henry Cannon was born Apr 25 1783, the son of William Henry and Mary Ervin Cannon in Horry County, SC. (It wasn't Horry County yet in 1783. Horry County was created from Georgetown District in 1801.) It is the easternmost county in South Carolina. On May 12 1804, he married Sarah Ann McTyer. In 1812, he was serving in the military. By 1840, he was living in Darlington, SC where he died on Dec 2 1843. All the stones in his original burial place, Cannon Family Cemetery, were moved to Grove Hill Cemetery in Darlington in 1962.
