"John Scott of Balcomie (bapt. 1725, died 1775) was a Scottish politician and general. He became the MP for Caithness, Scotland in 1754. In 1772 he purchased Denmylne Castle in Fife...

...He married Margaret, daughter of Robert Dundas, of Arniston, the younger. They had three daughters:

  • Joan Canning, 1st Viscountess Canning;
  • Henrietta, who married William Bentinck, 4th Duke of Portland;
  • Lucy, who married Francis Stuart, 10th Earl of Moray.

...In 1770, he married again, to Lady Mary Hay, daughter of the Earl of Errol, then 16 years old; they divorced in 1771."
