Malcey was the daughter of Elizabeth (Cox) and Jesse Brumble. The family left the Carolinas in the early 1830s, going to Tennessee. Malcey's siblings are: John D., Sarah Jane, Dicie, Elizabeth, William Davis and probably an older half brother, Stephen A. Brumble. The mother, Elizabeth, died in Tennessee, and the father, Jesse Brumble took his children to Osage County, Missouri where Malcey spent the remainder of her life. In Osage County, Malcey married John William Carwile. They had 6 children: Mary Elizabeth, William J., Judith Adeline, Nancy Jane, Jesse Peter, and Martha Jane. Malcey died when her youngest child was just 5 years old.
