Married on January 24, 1841 in Fayetteville, AR.
In 1841 Dr. Throckmorton settled near what is now the town of Melissa. This became known as “Throckmorton’s Settlement”. Included in Throckmorton’s party of settlers was M. C. Clement (Malinda’s father - and mother) and his sons Wesley and Bluford (Malinda’s brothers and their families).
“The Clement family subsequently decided to settle closer to Fort Inglish in Fannin County, which left the rest of the party to establish the first permanent settlement in Collin County, which became known as Throckmorton’s Settlement.” Collin County Historical Society’s “Grave Adventures - A Self Guided Tour of Historic Cemeteries” pages 19-20.
Malinda’s brother, Wesley Clements, was killed by Indians on Christmas day 1842 near their homestead on Honey Creek. This is known as the Clements-Whistler massacre.
