Notes for MARIA-JOSEFA DE-LA-GARZA-SOSA:

She is a descendent of the Onate-Zaldivar Family of Zacatecas and colonizers of New Mexico. Another participant in the colonization of New Mexico (USA), and an ancestor of this group is Bernabé de las Casas, who married Dona Beatriz Navarro, the daughter of Don Juan Navarro, a founder of Saltillo. Beatriz was the first wife of Captain Alonso de Sosa Albornoz, killed in New Mexico by orders of Oñate. Alonso’s grandfather was the Conquistador Don Andrés de Tapia, perhaps the most trustworthy and reliable of the captains of the Marquis del Valle de Oaxaca, Hernán Cortés.
