About Marco Brunner
Marco Brunner was born in 1817 in Hohenems - and went to Trieste together with his brothers, where they started trade with Swiss textiles. Later he went to St. Gallen where he opened a bank in 1850. Besides, he was not only a member of the municipal council of the Jewish community in Hohenems, but also a founding member of the Vorarlberg State Museum Association in Bregenz. With his first wife Regina Bretter he had five children. Lucian became a liberal member of the Viennese City Council and opponent of the antisemitic mayor Lueger. His daughters Elise and Isabella married to Frankfurt and Darmstadt, into the families of bankers and industrialists. The last decade of his life Marco Brunner spent with his second wife Henriette Marx in Hohenems. Where he #DiedOnThisDay 132 years ago.
