PUPILS PRAY FOR MAN MURDERED NEAR A SCHOOL
Pupils in the classroom of Miss Lillian McCann, teacher in the Jenner public school, bowed their heads in prayer yesterday as Michael Imburgia, 72, of 2738 West Chicago avenue, died on the sidewalk in front of 449 West Oak street, the victim of five bullets fired an an unidentified assassin.
Miss McCann, who lives at 2721 Sunnyside avenue, asked the children to pray for Imburgia when she ran to the window after hearing the shots and saw him lying on the sidewalk.
The killing occurred near Milton street and Oak, the famous "Death corner." The dead man, according to Capt. Daniel Murphy of East Chicago station, was shot by a would-be-assassin at Hobbie and Milton streets in 1914. Two weeks before his son-in-law was murdered at the same place.
