MARGARET BORTHWICK
Margaret Borthwick is the daughter of Sir William Borthwick, 1st of Borthwick.
Family
Margaret Borthwick married, firstly, Sir William Abernethy, 7th of Saltoun[1], son of Sir William Abernathy, 6th of Saltoun and Lady Mary Stewart. Her married name became Abernethy in 1413.[1]
They had the following children:
- William Abernethy d. 1428
- Laurence Abernethy, 1st Lord Saltoun of Abernethy b. c 1400, d. b 13 Mar 1460/61
Secondly, she and William Douglas obtained a marriage license on 9 December 1420. From 9 December 1420, her married name became Douglas. No children are known for that marriage.
