About Margaret Carnegie, of Northesk
Note by Ed Wyse on January 16, 2011: It is difficult to resolve these references to Earls of Northesk. If David, Earl of Northesk, is father of Margaret Carnegie then it implies that his name is David Carnegie. Later, George, Second Earl of Northesk, marries Lady Anne. One possible explanation, which is a bit of a stretch, is that David, who may have been named David Carnegie, was not the Fourth Earl of Northesk, but the First and his son, George, who also may have been named Carnegie, would have been the Second Earl of Northesk.
