Came from Ireland to United States in 1851.

Margaret Ellen Hennessey and Thomas Francis Cashman were united in marriage on May 2, 1858, at Cascade, Iowa in the presence of Maurrice Hennessey and Hannah Hennessey, with Rev. F. Slattery officiating.

That same year they moved to Castle Grove where they became the parents of twelve children, two of whom died in infancy.

After more than fifty years on the farm in Castle Grove, they moved to Ryan, Iowa, where Margaret Ellen died on June 6, 1913, and Thomas died on April 15, 1914.

They are both buried in the cemetary adjoining Immaculate Conception Church, in Castle Grove. On their tombstone is inscribed, "Natives of Ireland".
