About Margaret Cochrane, Countess of Eglinton
Margaret Cochrane was the daughter of William Cochrane, Lord Cochrane and Lady Catherine Kennedy. She married Alexander Montgomerie, 9th Earl of Eglinton, son of Alexander Montgomerie, 8th Earl of Eglinton and Lady Elizabeth Crichton, circa December 1676.
From circa December 1676, her married name became Montgomerie. As a result of her marriage, Margaret Cochrane was styled as Countess of Eglinton in 1701.
