Margaret was first married to Phillip Fry in Fayette, Kentucky on 22 Jul 1816. They relocated to Carrollton, IL. After Philip's death, she then married John Rutherford June 1, 1823 in Greene County, IL
Margaret may be the daughter of David Garard b. 1748 d 1821 and Margaret Unknown b. 1756 d. 1794. DNA points to this relationship. If this is true, she is the sister of Nathaniel Garard and Henry Garard.
Jacob Fry, General, (son of Barnabas/Barnhardt Fry and Hester Swigert) b. 20 Sept. 1799, Fayette Co., KY.He and all of his siblings - George, John Philip, Noah, Christiane (m. ? Redd), Mary (m. Evan Skiles)- moved to Greene Co. IL in 1818.
Margaret Rutherford purchased several parcels of land in Illinois with a land warrant. Margaret was the Patentee and Jacob Garret was the Millitary Warrantee for the war of 1812.
