  • Thomas Wentworth, Esq., (the son of William Wentworth and Catherine Beeson) High Sheriff of Yorkshire, 1582-3. He died 14 February 1586-7, and was buried at Wentworth. He married Margaret, daughter and heir of Sir William Gascoigne, Kt., and had issue:--
    • 1. William, of whom hereafter.
    • 2. Elizabeth, who married Thomas Danby, of Farnley, Esq.
    • 3. Barbara, who died unmarried.
    • 4. Margaret, who married, first, Michael, son and heir of John, Lord Darcy; and secondly, Jasper Blytheman, of New Lathes, co. York, Esq.
    • 5. Catherine, who married in 1587, Thomas Gargrave, of Nostel Priory, co. York, who was executed at York in 1595, after an extraordinary conviction of murder, aged thirty-five. She survived him until 1631, and was buried at Hemsworth, co. York.
    • The only son
    • Sir William Wentworth, High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1603, was created a Baronet 29 June 1611, and died in 1614. His wife, Anne, daughter and heir of Sir Robert Atkins, of Stowell, co. Gloucester, Kt., died in July 1611, and both were buried at Wentworth.
