Notes
From http://genforum.genealogy.com/heron/messages/459.html
In case anyone is interested in this line, I have some new sources on this line.
- (1) The History of the County of Cumberland... (1744), by William Hutchinson.
- (2) Collectanea Musgraviana (1911), by Percy Musgrave.
These sources seem to indicate that Margaret Musgrave, wife of John Heron of Chipchase, was one of two daughters of Sir Edward Musgrave, knt, and his first wife. This would make Margaret Musgrave a granddaughter of Sir Richard Musgrave and Joan Clifford (not their daughter).
Transcriptions of both marriage licenses of Sir Edward Musgrave are printed in Testamenta eboracensia, v. 3 (1865). His first marriage is recorded as:
"1483, Jan. 10. Licence to the abbat of St. Agatha and the curate of the church of Gilling to marry Edward Musgrave and Alice Ratcliff in the chapel within the manor-house of Sir Richard Ratcliff at Sedbury."
