Margaret Mote Patty was the daughter of David Mote and Dorcas Nichols and the wife of James Patty. She made her will 14 Jan 1803 and it was probated 7 Mar 1803 in Newberry Co, SC, so she died between those two dates in 1803. From Newberry, County (SC) Estate Record Book, Will Book D, p. 9, 1803: "I Margaret Patty of the District of Newberry and State of South Carolina being Weak of Body but in my Proper Sense and Sound Memory I have Thought fit to Make Ordain and Constitute, and Do Hereby Make ordain and Constitute My Last Will and Testament... I do Hereby Will and Bequeath all My Land to My Son David Patty, Whereas I Now Live Adjoining Land formerly Laid off for him in the Division of his fathers (James Patty's) Estate, I also bequeath to My Son David Patty one Certain Black Mare Which he now Claims, he to pay My daughter Dorkes (Dorcas) Motes the sum of Eleven pounds being her share of her fathers Estate...to my Daughter Sarah Spenser the sum of five Schilling...to my Daughter Mary Edwards the sum of five Schilling...to my Daughter Rachel Jones the sum of five Schilling...to my Daughter Darkes (Dorcas) Motes the sum of five Schilling...to my Son James Patty The Sum of five Schilling...to My Son Charles Patty all the Rest of My Personal Estate, to be aplyed (sic) as he and My Executors May think best...Certifying that this and No Other to be My Last Will and Testament...I have hereunto Set My Hand and Seal This foreteenth (sic) Day of the first Month called January in the Year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and Three..."
