About Margaret Peadie
MARGARET PEADIE
Spurious Pedigree
At least eight pedigrees published by MyHeritage claim that it was Margaret Peadie, here treated, who married John Ruthven. MyHeritage This is wrong. It does appear to be the case, though, that John Ruthven's wife is referred to as Margaret Peadie in the baptismal record of one of her children. However, there seems hardly any doubt that this is a clerical error. For example, John Ruthven's wife is identified as Marion Peadie in her marriage record, and in the burgess record of her husband, Glasgow Burgesses, 1573-1750: 384 and also in the baptismal record of five out of six of her known children.
It follows, therefore, that Margaret Peadie is not the same person as Marion Peadie
The Question of Identity
Margaret Peadie is the daughter of James Peadie amd his wife Anna Porterfield. She was born before 3 February 1686, the date upon which her baptism was registered at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland. [National Records of Scotland, Glasgow Baptisms, 1670-88, reference OPR.644/1/6]
