About Margaret Rutherford
MARGARET RUTHERFORD
Margaret Rutherford is the second wife of Sir John Maxwell of Calderwood. According to Sir William Fraser, writing in his 1863 account of the Maxwell family, Sir John Maxwell of Calderwood and his second wife Margaret Rutherford had one child, a son named George Maxwell. On 9 October 1478, Sir John Maxwell of Calderwood, and Gavin his son, settled various matters with Margaret Lady Calderwood and her son George. According to Fraser: "George Maxwell was the ancestor of the Maxwells of Newark, from which house are descended the Maxwells of Tealing, Cowhill, Blackston, and others."
