Elisenau, near Barvin, Rummelsburg, Pomerania, Prussia
Margaret was born in Elisenau, which is a small rural community included in the town of Barvin. Barvin is now part of Poland and has been re-named Barwino. The Protestants from Barvin belonged to the parish in Bartin, so her baptism would have been performed there.

This is an early photo of the Shappee farm. It is undated, but possibly taken around 1930-1935. It was taken as part of an appraisal for improvements, including green shutters. There is a larger, intact copy of this photo in the possession of the current owners of the property.

Gertrude Shappee recalled that she and the other children were sent to Margaret's brother's home during the time of the funeral. Frank and Alvina Radseck lived about a mile and a half to the east.
