Margaret Skerry

Margaret (Happolt) Skerry appears in Claudia Evelyn Skerry-Cridland's "Some Descendants of Patrick Skerry" (an excerpt of can be accessed towards the end of this wider collection: https://archive.org/details/ancestryoffannie00crid/), the main work on the family and associated families such as the Russells and Kiens, This work cites the baptism of their daughter Elizabeth in Halifax as listing Margaret's maiden name of Hawboldt. The rest of their children's baptisms besides that of their first son Michael all appear in the Catholic church at the time in Halifax's records. The Skerrys were granted land in Lunenberg around the mid 1810s, causing the gap in records local to that county. This church in Halifax also has no records predating 1800 leaving out a possible marriage record. Beyond this their children appeared to have adopted their mother's Protestantism- baptising their respective children Anglican. While I recognize this is a secondary source for now I am reattaching Margaret Skerry's parents as those previously assigned.

There is no reliable primary source (such as a baptism record) that her parents were Johann Ludwig Christoph Gottlieb (Happolt) Happold and Maria Barbara (Hammelsbach) Happolt. The Lunenburg County BMD database, which is compiled from original records, does not list her at all: https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~downeast/genealogy/3index.htm. John E. Hawboldt's, The Hawboldt saga, 1565-1993, which is considered the authoritative secondary source on this family, doesn't list them as her parents, either.

Please do not attach Margaret Happoldt Skerry as a child of Johann Ludwig Christoph Gottlieb (Happolt) Happold and Maria Barbara (Hammelsbach) Happolt without also attaching a reliable source.
