1. Margaret McClung, described as a great beauty, married Robert Tate of Augusta County, VA.
Margaret McClung was born 5 October 1755 in Augusta County, Virginia, and died there on 23 September 1839. She was the daughter of John McClung (d. 1817) and Elizabeth Alexander.
She married about 1775 to Robert Tate, of Middlebrook, Augusta County, Virginia. He was born 8 March 1755, the son of John Tate, Sr. (d. 1801) and Mary Mitchell, in Augusta County, where he died on 9 July 1832.
He is not to be confused with Robert Tate (1745-1806), whose wife Mary was named in his will in Russell County, Virginia.
