About Margaret Ternes

Margaret (Bichler) Ternes, 96, Bismarck, was called home to the polka party in heaven on April 10, 2015, at St. Vincent’s Continuing Care Center. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.

Margaret was born on April 12, 1918, on a farm southwest of Linton, the oldest of 14 children born to Mike and Mary (Wickenheiser) Bichler. She married Aloysius Ternes on Feb. 21, 1944, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg.

She loved polka music, playing cards, cooking and baking for family and friends. Daily Mass and rosary were an important part of her daily life. Margaret loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her five children, Mary Lou Vetter, Hazelton, Patrick Ternes, Marshall Minn., Patricia (Leo) Bitz, Bismarck Florian (Arlene) Ternes, Las Vegas, and Duaine (Sylvia)Ternes, Bismarck; 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe (Ann) Bichler, Alex (Kathryn) Bichler, and Leo (Alice) Bichler, all of Bismarck; and seven sisters, Anna Marie Mosset, Bismarck, Agnes (Max) Mosset, Sally (Tony) Bernhardt, Beverly (Albert) Noel, all of Linton, Lorraine (Herman) Mosset, Wishek, Angeline (Leo) Miller, Spokane, Wash., and Bernice (Ed) Jahner, Appleton, Wis.; and one brother-in-law, Pius Hager, Braddock.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Aloysius in 1987; her parents, Mike and Mary Bichler; her sisters, Victoria Jahner, Phyllis Kuhn and Theresa Hager; three brothers-in-law, Wendelin Mosset, Valentine Kuhn, and Barthelmous (Buddy) Jahner; and her son-in-law Felix Vetter.
