About Margaret Walker
Orphaned, losing both parents during the revolution; lived with grandfather, the Rev. Currie.
"Stirling's HQ" at Valley Forge was owned by her grandfather Rev. William Currie during the revolution. Early in the war the British had occupied and plundered the farm.
In 1791 Currie sold the property to Margaret and her husband , Thomas Walker, who was already farming the property.
This Walker is a descendant of the same Walker family that was 1/3 partner in building the original Valley Forge at the outset of the 1700s. Lewis Walker was one of the first settlers of the Great Valley (Tredyffrin)
In the 21st century the house (with marker) is part of Valley Forge Nat'l Park. As of 2015 it is not open to the public but can be plainly seen when driving on Yellow Springs Road.
