Margarette Weaver

Margarette was probably born in Douglass Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of John Bechtel Landis, and either his first wife, Elizabeth Lieser, or second wife, Anna Schlichter, with the latter now appearing to be more likely.
Margarette was raised in a Mennonite family. Little is known about the origins of Margarette's husband, Jonas Weber/Weaver. According to the 1830 and 1840 censuses, he was born between 1771 and 1780. Jonas may also have been of Mennonite background, but it's possible that his family was Lutheran or Reformed, instead. Along with a few of Margarette's siblings, Margarette and Jonas would affiliate with the United Brethren in Christ.
Margarette and Jonas had their first several children in Berks County, Pennsylvania, and by the mid-1820s, had relocated to Pickaway County, Ohio. Later, in about 1837, they relocated to Ripley County, Indiana.
By 1850, Jonas had passed away, and the Ripley County census shows Margarette living near her daughter, Esther Hurdle, and family.
According to probate records in Ripley County, IN, Jonas died ca. 1848.
Sometime after Jonas' death, Margarette and several of her married children relocated from Ripley County, Indiana, to Hendricks County.

Note that there is a problem with Margarette's birth year. The birthdate of 4/15/1781 conflicts with her sister Elizabeth's birthdate of 11/3/1781. The estate records of their father John Landis show that Margaret was born after Elizabeth. The 1850 census shows Margaret to have been born 1785/1786.
