Mrs. J. R. Allen At the family home in Caddo Tuesday afternoon at 6:10 o’clock, Mrs. Dr. J. R. Allen died of blood poisoning. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. G. L. Crow and Rev. S. J. McMurry. The immediate cause of the malady was the picking of a pimple on her face last Thursday with a needle. Dangerous symptoms were not manifested until Saturday, after which the best medical skill and tenderest care were of no avail, and death came peacefully Tuesday evening. Deceased was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Semple; was born and raised near Caddo, was known and loved by everybody for her kindness of heart and temper. In 1908 she was married to Dr. J. R. Allen, and two children were born to them: James being four years old, and an infant born last November. Besides these she leaves three sisters, Mrs. R. H. Carraway, Mrs. Joe Doxee, and Miss Anne Semple; three brothers, F.P. Semple, W. F. Semple and Chas. C. Semple all living in Caddo except W.F. Semple, whose home is in Durant. Mountains of flowers and a vast attendance at the funeral attested to the esteem and love in which deceased was held by those who knew her. She was a member of the Methodist Church to which she was loyal and devoted. During the funeral every business house in town was closed out of respect for the deceased.
