About Margery Anne Burke

Margery Ann Burke Bush, longtime resident of Lumberville, Pa., died peacefully, Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, with friends and family at Rydal Park, in Rydal. She was 89. Born July 11, 1923, in Detroit, Mich., she married George S. Bush in 1945. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Her early years were spent working as an elementary school teacher in Michigan, Minnesota, and California. After settling down in Lumberville, in 1968, Margery volunteered for the Republican Party, the League of Women Voters, and was a founder and longtime board member of the Board of Directors of the New Hope-Solebury Adult Community School. She loved social events, speeches, and music, especially opera, symphony and chamber, and was an active member of the Delaware Valley Music Club. Her gregarious personality and magnetic charm lit up a room and she easily made friends wherever she went. She leaves behind a daughter, Susanna Manstein (Mark) of Rydal, and a son, Richard Bush (Diane) of Oswego, N.Y. She also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren, Auri, Lila and Mattan Manstein, and Zachary, Alex and Elizabeth Bush; one nephew, Roger Hill (Chris) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and her dearest friend, Joanne Katsiff (Bruce). A memorial service will be held at Rydal Park.
