Biography

Margery Barker, daughter of Christopher Barker (printer to Queen Elizabeeth I) and Katherine Read, was born in 1570 in Datchet, Buckinghamshire, England. She died in England. <ref>Anne Constable, Lees of Virginia</ref> Most sources report her maiden name as Barker, daughter of Christopher Barker (printer to Queen Elizabeth I and Katherine Read::"On 14 July 1563 he married widow Katherine Read of Islington, and the couple had at least two children, Robert (b. c.1568) and Margery." (Kathman, 2013)Thus, she would have been the sister of Robert Barker, King's Printer,publisher of the 1611 first edition of the King James Bible.<ref>Roberts, Gary Boyd; Ancestors of American Presidents</ref>
